  • Frequently Asked Questions

    What happens in bad weather?

We will only cancel or postpone a tour if the conditions are exceptionally bad and we consider it to be unsafe to cycle.  Whenever possible, we will wrap ourselves up in appropriate clothing and go for it!  Trust us, the views are worth it…

    Will I be fit enough?

If you have a reasonably active lifestyle, you will be fine. We cycle for a few hours, but with frequent breaks, and none of the hills on the routes are mountainous!

While we always try and keep groups together, if it does happen that people have very different abilities, we might set up one group with Lyn and one with Dave.

What kind of bikes do you use?

Our bikes are hybrid bikes, perfect for riding on roads and on trails. We chose them because they provide a stable, relaxed ride and are easy to handle.

Before your tour starts, we give you a bike fitting to make sure your bike is set up just the way you like it.

And because Dave is a trained cycle mechanic, you can be sure your bike will be in top condition – and that any problems will be quickly sorted out.

Can I bring my own bike?

We are very proud of our bikes, and think you will enjoy riding them.

But we also know that it can be hard to leave your own bike at home. So it’s not a problem if you want to bring yours along.

    Bear in mind, though:

    • It needs to be suitable for road and trail riding
    • You need to be able to carry your lunch, spare clothes, tools etc.
    • We might not have the right spare parts if your bike breaks down
    Where does the tour start?

Our one-day tour around the Winchester area starts at the Winchester Hotel – this has public car parking and is a short walk from Winchester train station and Winchester bus station.

The one-day tour to Stonehenge starts from the centre of Salisbury where there is plenty of public car parking.  The bus station is less than five minutes walk away and the railway station is fifteen minutes walk away.

The one-day tour to Avebury starts from the centre of Marlborough where there is plenty of puplic car parking.

All of our tours return to the location where we started.

Depending upon the circumstances, we may be able to meet you at your preferred location. It is also possible we may be able to configure a tour to your requirements.

    Can I bring my children?

Children are welcome provided they are tall enough to fit our bicycles and the child is capable of completing the distance.   All we ask is that their conduct is the responsibility of the accompanying parent or guardian.

Can you arrange accommodation for us?

Absolutely.  We are very happy to recommend good quality, good value and friendly accommodation suitable for your budget or if you would prefer we can book it, on your behalf.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

    Can I bring my camcorder/camera?

Of course. Most people bring a camera, and we stop along the way so you can turn the stunning local countryside into memories forever.

As for camcorders, no problem – as you long as yours fits in your cycle bag. Bear in mind, though, that some people on your tour might not want to be a film star!

With your permission, we often take a few photographs along the way.  We can then e-mail them to you as a reminder of your wonderful trip.

Can you arrange a tour, tailored for me?

Being a small flexible business gives us the ability to arrange tours to suit many unique requirements.  If you wish to explore a new area or would like us to create a bespoke tour we will be pleased to help.  The majority of our business is from April to September, however, we can provide tours throughout the year.  (In 2011, we ran tours in October, November and December!).

We can arrange rides for hen and stag groups,  birthday parties, celebrations, corporate occasions,   family groups, tour parties and groups with specialists interests.

    Is lunch provided?

No – we stop at a pub or cafe where you can buy a healthy and tasty meal for a good price. Or if you would prefer a packed lunch, we can stop off at a shop during the morning and you can pick up a sandwich.

Can I park my car during the tour?

Winchester, Salisbury and Marlborough all  have public car parking facilities available near our departure points.

What happens to our personal belongings?

The bikes we supply each come with a brilliant bag attached to the rear rack.  This bag is expandable and sufficient for carrying most peoples belongings for a full day of exploring.

    Do I need holiday insurance?

Yes – as with any holiday, you need to arrange insurance for the duration of your time away from home.

    Company history/About us

We’re a family business, conceived and owned by us – Lynda and Dave Evans.

We pride ourselves on our professional approach. And our primary motives are fun and friendship – not profit.

That means we look after all aspects of the business, with help from our grown-up children, Sarah, Peter and Matt – and occasionally from friends who want to help us, too.

We have been developing the company since 2009. We have spent a long time planning and testing absolutely everything – from routes to hotels to bikes. After many years of enjoying the scenery and making friends in other countries around the world, it’s now our turn to reciprocate.
